A few words about us
Many of our Port Blue Sky team members have successfully built and scaled their own products, so they know first-hand what it is like to sit on the other side of the table.
Some of our achievements to date include building a real-time ad server to handle billions of daily requests and analyzing terabytes of daily generated data, creating a Frontend Microservice Fleet for one Germany’s biggest entertainment conglomerates and building several decentralized Ethereum (Bitcoin 2.0 blockchain technology) services.
We are not just living and breathing tech - few products and services would be complete without customer-centric UX design.
We have conceptualized, designed and developed a B2B Big Data visualization real estate product for which we won the Big Data & Smart Data award of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs.
We lead Innovation and Business Design workshops with our clients, conceptualizing innovative products and services, e.g. for the Intrapreneurship Programme of one of the world’s largest banks.
To stay up-to-date with current developments, we organize Europe’s largest Node.JS developer meetup group and we are proud sponsors of the first dedicated Node.JS conference.

The challenges of product development
Product development is challenging and quality expectations are high: Building user-friendly products that customers love and are willing to pay for, with an appealing design, fast load times, a solid architecture and robust code base that can be scaled and built on for years.
It is hard to attract good in-house talent and difficult to scale teams up or down as requirements change.
Agencies typically work with junior talent, out-dated technologies, their workings are intransparent and requirements set in stone. Milestones tend to get missed and the outcome quality often disappointing. They own the product and any future change requests have to go through them.
For many companies the solution then is to hire freelancers, since they have typically worked on a large variety of projects, so they are highly skilled, proactive, continuously learning, they work on the fore-front of technology, can share best practices from across industries, and they tend to have great communication skills. But many of our enterprise clients have policies in place that prevent teams from hiring freelancers due to liability reasons. Other teams cannot commit to continuous, longer contract run times and subsequently lose out on talent and have high turn-over rates. And then there is the issue of integrating, onboarding and collaboration dispersed freelancers that have never worked together before.

Our leadership team
Dr Andreas Lubbe
Andreas is a former CTO of a high-frequency adtech solution and a big data real estate data aggregation platform, as well as a McKinsey alumnus.
He supports clients in becoming category leaders by designing and implementing world-class digital solutions and ensures that PBS identifies and maintains the best technical talent to support our clients.
Andreas holds a PhD in Mathematics from Oxford University and Masters in Management from London Business School.
Svenja von Holt
Svenja is a former Head of Product and Design, entrepreneur, user experience and product expert.
When not working hands-on to build digital products or services, she consults businesses on agile, lean and customer-centric product development methods and works as mentor and coach.
She combines the best of the lean start up, agile and design thinking approach to create customer-centred products and services for large, multinational corporations and banks.
